What the BID does

The BID represents over 500 businesses towards the delivery of a Business Plan, the key features of which include:


  • A lively and well-promoted city
  • A smart & attractive city
  • A welcoming & attractive city
  • A great place to do business

How the BID is funded

The BID is funded by businesses paying a small proportion (approximately 1.5%) of their business rateable value and this money being ring-fenced for use only in the BID area towards the delivery of the Business Plan.

The BID operates on a not-for-profit basis with a turnover of approximately £275,000 per year.

The BID area

The highlighted area represents the full extent of the proposed Wakefield Business Improvement District.

The BID area includes any road or street and all small business areas and courtyards located off roads that are located within the boundary of the defined BID area as per the shaded area on the map, even if they are not listed.
